Diversity & Inclusion

AQORD is committed to seeking understanding and fostering conversation about diversity and inclusion from a perspective anchored in values. To assist our members with diversity and inclusion initiatives within their organizations, we offer a myriad of programs.

Diversity & Inclusion Training

Guide to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and More

In order to create an environment of inclusion, we must start with the basics. First, we will define diversity, equity, inclusion, and more, and talk about what they look like from the viewpoint of management within your organizations. This will support the development of a diversity strategy to effect change, and to ensure your team moves forward toward a common goal. You’ll walk away with beginning thoughts toward actions — to build your own framework for inclusivity and diversity as a manager on your team.

Guide to Unconscious Bias

We will define “unconscious bias” and identify the biases we all have. By paying attention to bias and using mindfulness techniques to not act on the biases we all have, we can contribute to a shift, both in our personal and work environments. We will also explore ways to manage the biases of others.

Intercultural Development Inventory® Assessment

The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI) Assessment workshop offers the opportunity for discovering one’s mindset/skillset towards cultural difference and commonality. Individuals take the IDI assessment to identify their own intercultural competence, which is the capability to shift perspective and adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. Following the assessment is a one-on-one meeting with AQORD’s educator to review a participant’s IDI profile and individual action plan to achieve diversity and inclusion goals, both inside and outside of work. The IDI profile can be done on a group and/or individual level.

When Cultures Meet | Virtual Workshop

A two-hour virtual workshop designed to reflect on the nature of cultural dynamics in organizations. This is an upbeat, fast-paced way of getting into sensitive topics affecting every organization. A non-punitive program, WCM doesn’t assume that anyone is right or wrong. Rather, this workshop demonstrates that there are certain predictable dynamics that are set in motion by cultural differences and gives participants a greater appreciation for cultural differences, with insight into the ways in which differences add to organizational effectiveness. This workshop is also available as a 3–5-hour in-person workshop.

Our Commitment to Anti-Racism and Belonging

AQORD is committed to fostering a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging within our staff and board. Rooted in Quaker and Anabaptist values and our belief that all human life is sacred, we recognize the inherent worth and dignity of every person and the strength that comes from diverse perspectives, experiences, and identities. We actively strive to create an environment where all voices are heard, respected, and valued, and where collaboration, reconciliation, and mutual accountability guide our work. While we are committed to ongoing learning and growth, we acknowledge that we will sometimes fall short. We invite feedback in these instances to hold us accountable and help us continue to grow. Through our actions and culture, we aim to respectfully confront racism and model belonging, hospitality, and respect in all that we do.
